Originaire d’une petite ville de l’ancienne Yougoslavie, sa famille s’établit à Venise, où il passe une grande partie de sa jeunesse. En 1951, il émigre au Canada et s’établit à Montréal. Vivant de petits boulots, il se construit peu à peu une carrière en art. Il réalise des illustrations pour des campagnes publicitaires d’importantes entreprises, dont Bell Canada, la Banque Nationale et Air Canada. C’est aussi à lui que l’on doit le logotype de la chaîne de boutiques de vêtements Le Château. Son style se démarque par des lignes simples, des couleurs vives et un humour un peu grinçant. Ses œuvres sont affichées dans plusieurs grandes villes, et il est récipiendaire de nombreux prix internationaux. D’ailleurs, en 1980, l’Encyclopædia Universalis affirmait qu’il était l’un des meilleurs affichistes du monde.
